6.1.2 DOMESTIC MAIL — AIRMAIL, BALLOON- AND ZEPPELIN MAIL
On 10 July 1928, the airmail connection Gdańsk — Warszawa — Lwów was opened by the Polish Post in Gdańsk. On 8 January 1929 the Polish Post opened their next connection, now between Gdańsk and Katowice. Only a relatively small number of philatelic mail items were carried on the first flights on both these routes and each mail item was endorsed with a special first flight cachet.

WARSZAWA 19 PORT LOTNICZY b transit cds and boxed NADESZŁA POCZTĄ LOTNICZĄ (forwarded by airmail) of the Airport Post Office and a WARSZAWA ld arrival cds 10.7.28 on the reverse. Looking at the postage, it was probably sent as printed matter, although this is not written on the cover. 5 groszy for printed matter, 5 groszy for air transport (equal to the basic fee for printed matter) and additional 20 groszy. From 3 February 1927 at least half of the total postage was to be paid with airmail stamps.
