Postmarks and On-Board Postmarks.
>> Postmarks.
31st of July, 1932, in the special post office 'Danzig-Langfuhr-Airport' didn't get an additional transit postmark next to the Luposta special Marks, since, in this case, it was only a sub-office from Post Office 5.
On-Board Postmarks.
The post offcie on board the airship Graf Zeppelin always stayed a sub-office of the German Empire post, no matter whether the airship was inside or outside the German borders. Mail which was handed over there hat to carry German stamps which were postmarked on board. This also happened with the German stamps that were in mixtures, in case they weren't yet. This postmarking was only for the German stampings; it wasn't used either for transit markings of for other purposes. In the on-board post office, you could hand over only standard post, such as plain cards or letters. It is not known if there were any registered or other special post handed over during the Luposta trips.
The on-board mail which was postmarked daily didn't carry an hour indication. That's the reason why it is impossible to check on which of the three Luposta trips the mail was dispatched. There are 3 possible dates for the mailings;
30.7.32: The mail was handed over before the departure from Friedrichshafen or during the outward trip to Danzig and postmarked prior to 24:00 hours.
31.7.32: The mail was handed over and postmarked in the course of the day, on the outward trip after 00:00 hours, on the cruise, or on the return trip to Friedrichshafen, before 24:00 hours.
01.8.32: the mail was handed over and postmarked after 00:00 hours on the return.
