At the beginning of 1808 the 3’ Régimem d’Jr,fanrerie Légére, the 57 Regiment dinfw,terie th3 Ligne and the 93 Régime,,t d’J,fwsierie de Ligne were transferred ftom Stettin and Stralsund to Danzig as part of the I’ Division of the Corps de Observation des Coies.

On 21 July 1808 French law was established under the “Code Ncipol.éon “, superseding the Roman. canonical and Prussian laws as a temporary measure and introducing new civil registers. For the next year the occupation troops were reduced to 5000 men, consisting of one French, one Saxon and two Polish regiments. The monthly upkeep of the military occupation forces amounted to some 30,000 Thalers.

In late 1808 Marêchal Lefèbvre was transferred to command the 4th Corps of the Armée d’E.spagne,
