Disagreement between Cancels
and Registry Labels: Freie Stadt CORRECTED

Immediately after being taken over by the Reich, all Danzig post offices were to remove references to the “Freie Stadt” in their cancellations However, as can be seen from the cover above, dated almost a year after occupation, some obsolete registry labels were still in use. [Illustrations are slightly increased in size for clarity.]
