He says, “...Mail of any of the villages founded by people from Danzig area are hard to find, if any exist. I never saw a piece here in Europe --- not in an auction, or not even described somewhere in literature.”

4. ARR HECKER, another old stamp friend, pioneer in the chemistry of plastics, owner of 65 patents in the field of plastics. founder and Director of Research, Argus Chemical Co., Brooklyn, died on May 26 at 76 years. As an army engineer in London (luring WW-ll, Art was involved in the top-secret Pluto program, which provided an oil pipel inc soon installed after 1)-Day from England to Chcrbourg. then to Paris and into Germany. After Pluto,he worked on railroad bridges. After the war, Art solved the initial problems with PVC’S instability and cracking over time, resulting in his patents and production of stabilizers. After retiring, Art remained active in the study and production of philatelic literature, being the first to uncover the long-lost “emergency”regulations and airmail rates created by the AMG when they re-established the German postal system. His memory will also survive in the hearts of his many friends and in the legacy of business, technical and chemical knowledge that he passed on to all those who knew him, as well as the philatelic discoveries he gave to the hobby.

5. “Albany” JOHN GILROY, cheer leader of Danzig and a gracious contributor of articles, such as: “How to Sec Danzig without Actually Being There”. We should explain that Albany John was in his nineties while still studying ma that inspired his walking tours. Albany John will be missed by cape Cod Ernie, Baltimore John and all the other 1)anzig Nuts who came in contact with this gentle man, who passed away on September 11.
