Issues 5 and 6: In 1931, plates A and B were prepared at the P.W .P.W. for further printing of the Moscicki stamp on Polish-made paper z.

A print from Plate A was made hut, because of the stamp robbery, it never came into general usage. Not known is how many stamps were actually printed. Stamps from this issue were later used for the Doplata (postage due) overprints.

Plate B never served for the printing of the 1-zloty black stamps. It was kept in store until 1936, when the 1-zloty blue Moscicki 10th-anniversary stampwasprintcd from ii.

The 1-zloty stamp officially lost value on June 1, 1936, hut in reality, its sale was stopped around August 1, 1931. The reason for this was a great stamp robbery, in which several hundredsof mini 1-zloty stamps were stolen in July, 1931. Hoping that the robbers would try to sell their booty, the postal authorities withd rew all M oscicki stamps from sales, reasoning that if, afterwards, I -zloty stamps appeared on the market, it would be easier to trace the thieves. However, the robbers didn’t sell. In April 1936, the postal authori - tics lost their paticncc and demonetised officially the M oscicki stamp, having used it since November, 1934, as material for Doptata overprints (postage due).

PORT GDANSK OVERPRINTS
On October30, 1929, the post ministry ordered for the Polish post in Gdansk, stamps of 1-zloty with the overprint PORT GDANSK The stamps were put on sale on November 30, 1929 (order Nr. 4860 of the post ministry) and lost validity on June 1, 1936.

The black overprint was made by letterpress (typographic) fmm a plate composed of lOx 10 subjects. The overprint is on English-made vertically-laid papery and w. Just like the normal stamps, papery is scarcc,and w is normal. i’oial number of overprinted stamps is 191,2(X).

The several writers do not agree on what stamps were used for the overprint. Also, some facts don’(match. Rachmanow and the P.Z.P. state very clearly about the first and third issues: the stamps have vertically laid paper and are either without plate numbers (Plate 1) or have the plate number III 1-4 (Plate 4).
