DOUBLE-CIRCLE DANZIG AND DATE - TIME IN BASE
Between 1837 and 1845, mail to Britain via Hamburg was charged 13 1/2 groschen to Hamburg.
This entire illustrated that prepayment was mandatory. Endorsed in red ink: - Aus dem Bríefkasten! Muss franco sein - From the letter-box. Must be prepaid. On the reverse in the same ink: Rosenzweing the sender’s name for return.
