It’s not too early to think about the 30th Anniversary of the GPS as well as the Bundesrepublik. This gala event will be celebrated over the Labor Day weekend in 1979 at Hunt Valley, near Baltimore, Maryland. Our foreign friends are urged to plan ahead for this occasion, which falls on August 31 thru September 3, 1979. Big plans are already underway.
The odd marks that appear on some varieties of Mi. 16 and subsequent issues are different sized impressions of plate cliché nails with the resulting color imprints. Consequently, when the nails work loose out of the holding material and are lost, a color dropout which is the same size as the nail shaft is apparent, as in our’ example shown on the fuselage of the airplane in last Report’s ,,Was Ist?” At some time in the life of the Mi. 179 plate, position 19 rny have shown a convex “bump” or “tail wheel” before the nail was lost. This may be worth a search in your collection of 1923 Flugpost, from Mi. 177 to 180. If you find this corner block, send in a sharp photostat so that we all can have a look.
Notice the nails that have printed irregular dots at the top and bottom margins of the same Mi. 179 sheet in the last Report. Below are illustrated 2 examples of nails printed with the red aufdruck ink on Mi. 102. One is printed on the left and the other on the right.
