Although the M has the reputation for mut ations, the D has proven to have had enough troubles of its own: (A) The 5 Pfg Dl starts out with a (cliche nail?) notch similar to (B) D23. The various bumps indicate that the letters are from the same cliche. (C) In D25 (Field 97), the letter D received a cliche nail, the head of which has been imprinted with the overprint. (D) and (E) show similarities between D25 (Field 73) and D33Y (Field 100). Are they related?
