22.2.1860 — Rquest, in a mortgage—property case, to interrogate a widow if she consented to the cancellation of 375 Thaler due to her deceased husband. Several additional marginal notes with different dates.

9.1.1860 — (An error in the Report. Should be 9.1.1861.) A request for postal delivery of a court document in reference to a mortgage—property case. A receipt with signature of Anna Barbara Wiese was signed 9.1.1861. The request by the Court of Danzig is dated 31.12.1860.

27.11.1862 — Request to release the sum of 245 deposited at the Court to an indicated party and to confirm the transaction.

3.1.1873— Request for delivery of court documents. Receipt was signed by the wife (T. Krafft) on 9.1.1873.

Corrections:
In addition to the above date correction, Karl Kniep refers us to Page 17 and says: “I think that both angles are not 135 and 140 degrees, but they appear to be 125 and 130 degrees. On the same page, 80 degrees is correct, but the next angle is 85.” Thanks, Karl, for your proofreading!

A Lesson in German Script:
In studying the documents discussed above, it became quite obvious that (a) old German script is extremely difficult to decipher and (b) we had better learn its secrets. On the following page, Cheryl and Felix Ganz did a short study of the difficult script in the German Postal Specialist. Also of help is an alphabet published in the Inflation Study Group Bulletin by Diana Manchester, in June of 1985.
