2nd issue.


3 to 15 May 1921
First dedicated airmail issue. Aeroplane over a silhouette of Danzig. Designed by Max Buchholz. Danzig. Watermark vertical honeycomb. Nos. 4 to 7 perforated 14 (comb). Nos. 8 and 9 rouletted. Nos 4 to 7 normal format, Nos. 8 and 9 large. horizontal, rectangular format. Sheets of 100 except Nos. 8 and 9 which were in 50’s.

3rd issue

3rd January 1923
Same design as the 2nd issue but with additional value and changed watermark, horizontal webbing. Perforation. rouletting and sheet sizes as above.

The Pfennig and smaller Mark values had very little practical use due to the onset of inflation. They are therefore very scarce genuinely used. Many plate faults have been observed on this issue also.
