Believe It Or Not --- Ripley Does It Again!
DAPOSTA 1937
A couple of reports back, we illustrated a Third Reich revenue stamp that GPS Chapter 16’s own Dave Ripley found at a bourse. Since then, it has been identified and cataloged. Now Dave has found three copies of the DAPOSTA 1937 block which show a wedge-shaped point under the left serif of the letter T. Also, there are additional variations of wide spots and notches on some of the S letters. The notch can be explained, but the wide spots are possibly dried ink globs that form periodically on the metal plate. Can any of you find these anomalies (or others) on your blocks?
