In reference to the Postamt labels: these labels were applied only to airmail letters and cards — whether or not such items were also flown by Zeppelin. Mail addressed to plain Danzig received the label Postamt 1; i.e., Danzig 1, whereas mail addressed to suburbs such as Danzig-Langfuhr or Danzig-Oliva and to Zoppot received the label Postarnt without the digit 1. So far, I am unaware of whether the small rural post offices of those smaller towns, such as Neuteich and Tiegenhof did also apply such labels. I can’t recall having seen such.

Colonel Willi Bethke was responsible for the divisions attacking the Polish Post Office. These divisions of the Danzig Police, the SS— Wachsturrnbann Einiann and Danziger SS-Heimwehr, were not part of the Germ an Wehrmacht and had no military status. Therefore, they were not cove red under the IV Hague Convention from October 18, 1907, as well as other laws governing war and military action. It must be kept in mind
