DIENSTMARKEN - A FURTHER STUDY
Several years ago, in Danzig Report No.57, we began Part I and promised to follow up with Part II “in the future”. As they say, the future is now. Some new findings and cataloging of the DM overp rints by Karl Kniep in the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Danzig publication have provided us with further studies. By use of our new color printi ng, we can show some recent acquisitions in a clearer light.

PROCEDURE FOR DM STUDY
Herr Kniep published the ArGe’s findings in Rundschreiben of Nov. 1986, working from four separate plate printings to provide charts of Plattenfehier as well as symbols to aid in and to clarify future studies of Dienstmarken #D1-20, D22- 34 and D36-38. If you have available full

We’ll attempt to provide our layout with charts and plate flaws on adjacent pages (4 and 5) so that comparisons are more convenient. For you cover collectors, it would be wise to search the bourses for those with the DM overprint stamps. (A quick look at the prices in Michel will convince you of this necessity.)

FIGURE 1 - Michel No. 26a, with overprint on No. 109a; issued on 30.10.23 and valid until 2.11.23. The D in Field 1 is notched, possibly from a hammer. Of interest to the computor guys out there: is that a Tilde (—) southwest of the 60,c3 or is it a cliche nail in the red plate?
