6.1.1 DOMESTIC MAIL - THE USE OF POSTAGE STAMPS
1 złoty stamps were issued for the Polish Post in Gdańsk on 30 November 1929 and 1 July 1933, but were valid only until 1 June 1936 and 15 September 1936. After that normal Polish stamps without overprint had to be used.
Above: Registered, express letter sent in 1938 from Gdańsk to Zajaczkowo-Tczewskie with a Polish 1 złoty stamp. For this letter 1,30 złoty had to be paid: 50 groszy for the letter, 30 groszy for registration and 50 groszy express fee. However the postal clerk made a mistake and calculated 1,35 złoty. Boxed registration handstamp GDAŃSK 1 i and POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. GDAŃSK 1 i cds 15.9.38.
Below: Registered letter sent in 1936 from Gdańsk to Poznań with a Polish 1 złoty stamp. POLSKI URZĄD P.-T GDAŃSK 1 e cds 10.10.36 and a boxed registration handstamp POLSKI URZĄD P.-T No 1 GDAŃSK POZNAŃ 1 b arrival cds 11.10.36 on the reverse. 80 groszy for a letter of the third weight category and 30 groszy for registration.
