Late useage of Ticgenhof registration label that still contains (Freie Stadi Danzig)” designation. In light of the rapid changeover of the cunceL to eliminate the Free City phrase. the date on this cover of 30th August. 1940, does seem quite late. The Tiegenhof cancel retains J)ANYJG at the bottom of the circle, but Frele Stad: has been eliminated. Wolff lists this cancel as from “10.3.1941-”
Slogan cancels were used on all mail, including this oUiciakourt mailing of a bankruptcy notice to Germany. Four versions of this cancel had the circle on the left side of the slogan: one on the right. The first cancel similar to the above (FORM 2a) was 41 x 21 mm, a 22 mm dia. and ran from 19.8.29 - 7.11.29. Next. FORM Zc, had the same dimensions but ran from 11.3.31 until 3.11.31. The next two forms changed from 41 mm long x 21 mm high, with 22mm dia. to 40.5 x 20 mm, w/ 22 mm circle. FORM 3a and FoRM 4. respectively, ran from 14.3.1932 until 13.7.1932 and 18.4. 1932 until 27.9.1933.
