DANZIG REPORT
STUDY and RESEARCH GROUP
Editor: John H. Bloecher Jr., 1743 Little Creek Drive, Baltimore, Md. 21207
The Danzig Study Group will meet at FLOREX during the GPS Convention in St. Petersburg on November 7th, 8th and 9th. Hope that many of you will attend this excellent meeting hosted by the Central Florida Chapter 23. Watch for details in the Specialist and make plans to attend:
Letters from some newer members indicate their difficulty in finding magazine articles or books related to Danzig philately. Just about every article that has been published (with the exception of works by the German-language Study Group) has either been reproduced in past Reports or has been mentioned in #22 (P. 3), #25 (Pp. 2, 3 & 4) and #26 (P. 1). If some of you veteran collectors know of other articles and can get the author’s and publisher’s permission, we will be happy to reprint them.
We have recently been approached by Karl Kniep of the German Study Group, enclosing some recent newsletters. Through Bud Hennig, we are attempting to exchange ideas to increase the amount of Danzig information available to both German and English-speaking members. Thanks again to all the contributors on both sides of the Atlantic.
Abeautifitily written article appeared in the British Harrogate Philatelic Society publication by John L. Whiteside and is titled: “DANZIG: Postal History until 1920”. John has used his own collection as well as other articles to tie together this interesting period of Danzig postal history. We hope to be able to reprint the article in the future.
This issue deals with answers to questions raised in No. 26, as well as sor• handbook information on the Polish post that is so closely entwined with German history. Also are some seldom-seen official covers included with the official departmental stamps.
Herzlichst Grüßse nach Herr Schüer das Silberjubiläum Leiter Danzig Arge !!!
