DANZIG REPORT STUDY and RESEARCH GROUP
Editor: John H. Bloecher Jr., 1743 Little Creek Drive, Baltimore, Md. 21207
Perhaps the old GPS, in its 35th year, has survived its midlife crisis and is beginning to show its true robust colors. In the soul-searching snow of Columbus, it was said that we can’t attain the initial excitement of the immediate post war era when Germans, English and Americans were first recognizing the collection value of those strange home made adhesives and primitive overprints, a far cry from Hitler’s recent slick propaganda stamps. But we can experience some things that the 1940’s collector could not: an explosion of published research and extensive exhibits of every phase. Of German Philately. . . such as we can absorb at BALPEX during the Labor Day weekend. We have also noted that Fred Behrendt and the new Specialist printer have taken giant steps to regain that monthly’s place among the prestigious journals of the world, and new Editor Joe Zollman’s work has contributed to that goal. Great things are on the horizon. . . join them at GPS/BALPEX!
