HIGH INFLATION

Did It End In 1923?

Below is what can be expected when a locally—addressed cover is forwarded to Danzig to find its recipient. It was commercially posted from the Bank of Commerce and Industry of Halle to a Dr. Geisler, of the same city, on 23.8.23. Unfortunately, the doctor was in Danzig and left a Langfuhr forwarding address. The post office in Halle redirected the envelope on the 24th, and it was received at the Danzig-Langfuhr office on the next day. Here the 1200M of Postage Due stamps were added, prior to the ultimate delivery to Dr. Geisler. Nothing too unusual here, but how long did this inflation business continue after 1923?
