5.3 THE HANDLING OF NORMAL MAIL

From 1930, Post Office Gdańsk 2 also started to handle small amounts of normal mail. This mail probably came from the letter-box near the entrance of the railway station and another located on one of the platforms. The mail was added to mailbags for Poland arriving from the Main Post Office at the Heveliusplatz, although officially this was not permissible.

Written "T" to indicate that postage due should be raised but this was not done in Poland. POLSKI URZĄD POCZTOWY GDAŃSK 2b cds 31.7.37. This type of datstamp is only known from the Railway Station Post Office, used only between July and October 1937.
