Censored Cover to U.S.A. with hand-cut Tape
Some details about covers seem to catch the eye, such as the story in DR-X9 (1995) on an “Early Censored Letter” which had a hand-cut censor tape on the back. This one, with a similar brown tape, also falls into that dategory. Why were they slit? Because of a shortage of tape? We’re still asking.
This cover was mailed from Danzig on the 14th of September, 1939. and was censored in Konigsberg, with seals and handstamps Von der 14thrmackt zugelassen on the from and Im Staalsinteresse geoffnet. stamped over the tape. Blue-purple ink is the color of all (he handstamps.
