Danziger Brücke
BROKEN PLATE VARIETY OF No. 411
The illustration on this page clearly tells the story of this variety and why the overprint appears at so many different angles. The two bottom rows (#81 thru #100) clearly indicate that the black overprint cliche broke at #96 and rotated upward on the nails at both ends. Note the clear double overprints on #85 thru #88, while #97 is almost untouched by the overprint:
No. 41 VIII, as this 20-stamp block is designated, catalogs at DM 7500, making it worthwhile to search your old cigar boxes. Note that it was necessary to remove the bottom and right margins prior to the over printing operation.
