Danzig’s Newspapers, as we can see, reflected the political climate of the day. Some of the leading publications and their leanings are as follows:

Danziger Echo: Served the Jewish community and was edited by Theodor Loevy Arrested on 20 Sept.1934, he was charged with violating press regulations and possession of Communist literature. Loevy’s arrest and the demise of his newspaper occurred at the time of Rauschning’s resignation.
Danziger Vorposten: Strong voice of the NSDAP from the beginning of 1931. Regarded all other political parties and their publications as their opponents.
Rote Wähler: Communist Parry publication. *
Danziger Nationale Zeitung: Organ of the German National People’s Party (DNVP). *
Danziger Volksstimme: Voice of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). *
Danziger Volkzeitung: Organ of the Center4
Gazeta Gdanska: Polish-language newspaper (Those noted with were closed down in 1936) -Danziger Neuste Nachrichten: Independent liberal, later coordinated. . Danziger Landeszeitung: Center Parry, ordered to suspend after a critical review of Greiser
