FIGURE 4 - Letter apparently placed in a mail box without any postage. Hamburg PV2, 24 March 1875, 6-7N on envelope in upper right corner, under stamps, and Hamburg 24 March 1875, 7-8N backstamp. Aus dem Briefkasten and red crayon 80 (pfenniges) applied at post office, and letter returned to sender


German stamps, Mi. 19,20 and 33, totaling 8 Groschen (80 pfenniges), affixed to cover and cancelled HAMBURG! VENLOER-BAHNHOF/ 24 3 75*9I0N Handstamp Aus dem Briefkasten crossed out in blue crayon and red RD. (paid to destination) handstamped over crayoned 80.

Cover went thru Paris, 26 March 1875, and via Bordeaux to Montevideo, Uruguay. There it was judged to still be underfranked by 10 Centimos with a boxed blue hand stamp.

FIGURE 5- Danzig 1 to Schluchtem (Germany), 10 Nov.1921, forwarded to Sterfritz (Germany), 11 Nov. 1921 El Danzig stamps, six Mi. 63 + Mi. 74, make up the correct rate of 1.60 Marks for under 20 grams plus registrat ion fee to Germany.
