Roosevelt trade Destroyers for Sea bases
In 1941 the United States still considered herself to be isolationist in dealing with the Axis Powers. When the “Destroyers for Atlantic bases” deal came up, the U.S. took a step toward joining Europe as a beiligerent. Here is page one of the New York Times from Sept. 4, 1940.
