Since Russia used the old calendar with a I 3-day difference, this is actually thc 2Nth oliuly. 1914, the first day of (he “Great War”! The letter was stopped in I)aiwig and underwent censorship. as seen from the rubber- stamped censor’s mark on the hack, Unfortunaiely. the date is unclear in the line: Danzig, den 1914. Hostilities had just started, so protocol was shabby in the censorshi r depaitinent.
