After a half-century. architectural details are finalized on the Langgasse

By the year 2000, the Main Post Office, once known as Danzig 1, and renamed Urzad Pocztowy Nr 5O, had scaffolding removed to show its newly pointed and cleaned bricks. The last section to be renovated was the telegraph office at the left end of the main structure. The building fronts on the Langgasse, at the conier of Postgasse, which is one block long and terminates at Hundegasse. Comer of Dluga and Pocztowa, running south to Organo.

Since major damage was done by the Soviet army during its march toward Berlin, the interior was also in need of rebuilding, which wasn’t completed until last year The Polish artisans duplicated the interesting stained glass ceiling, which is shown in this Report, both on an old post card and as it looks today in a color photograph. In Fig 2, at the left, is how the corner looked at the beginning of the 20th century
