Another Look at Parcel Post Systems
Bill Ruh is going through his collection of postage due covers and will report in a future issue. In particul ar. he’ll be concentrating on covers that have chased a recipient through several cities with multiple franking. For this Report, we will show some examples collected by Ronny van Waardhuizen (identified as RvW). As you know, Ronny has produced many exhibit pages of “Zuruck” mail, which have produced prizes in gold.

Figure 3- A citizen of Zoppot needed to mail his tax contribution to the Freie Stadt Steueramt with a 25-pfg stamp on 14 February, 1939, only to have it returned with postage due stamps and a request for a better address. Why didn’t the postal authorities know the tax office address in Danzig? Who knows? The hapd-written pencil note says that it was ordered to be returned on 15/2, for 10 pfg. The 10 and 40 blue crayon markings are reflected in the 10 and 30 postage due stamps.

In response to our printing the HP-I card in the middle of Page 6of the last Report, No.101, Glles du8oulay says that the card is not overfranked as reported, but is correct with Its postage from Zoppot to Danzig (or to any of its immedi ate suburbs such as Danzig.Langfuhr) which go for the ‘out of town” or Femverkehr rate.
