PORT GDANSK FORGERIES
Below are four examples of bogus Gdansk stamps sent in by Mr. duBoulay. It i said that they were produced in Italy by one Italo Perglesi in 1945. Note the omission of the accent on the “n” of GDANSK. Has anyone seen these before and can you tell us the story behind these stamps?
1939 Tag der Briefmarke CARD WITH POSTAGE DUE
Art Hecker sends us this card celebrating the “Danzig Collectors Show, 7-14th January 1939, in the Art Chamber”. The 5 pfg frank is 1 pfg underrated, requiring a 100% penalty, shown in the “T” arid “2” in blue crayon as Postage Due. Stamped over the “Berlin” address, but upside down, is a boxed stamp “Nachgebühr”.
