Another contribution by Art Hecker is shown above. It’s a card with a special slogan cancel not covered in the section recently published here. Listed on Page  44 of the ARGE publication, Freie Stadt Danzig 1920-1939; Bewertung der Poststempel 1. Aufl. 1977, we translate:

DANZIG / (SA in circle, twice Danzig coat of arms & swastika) 5 ( 2-circle cancel) Competitive Games / 9. - 11.6.1939 / the SA Baltic States Group”

Next are listed 3 categories of cancels from various stations, each with a description of letter and cross-bar anomalies associated with (a) Albert Forster Stadium, (b) Heinrich Ehlers Platz and (c) Armored Train Niederstadt cancels. None of these seem to describe the Type 9 cancel of 3.6.39 on Art’s Danzig card or the Editor’s example of a Polish card with the Röntgen adhesive stamp. This card contains no less than three separate cancels, all of which appear to be dated
9.6.39:

(a) The same Type 9 slogan cancel
(b) An oval DANZIG 5/(date)/a/LUFTPOST cancel
(c) A heavy DANZIG 1/(date)/a double circle cancel

We’ve tried separating the black-on-black prints with ultraviolet, etc., but can’t improve the above description. The card was, incidentally, back-stamped in Argentina 3 July 39. Does this mean that it missed its flight and went by boat ? If so, how come no transit stamps ? Getting back to Art’s
