POST OFFICES IN THE OPD. DANZIG from 15th Nov. 1850 to 31 Dec. 1867
The Kingdom of Prussia was divided into 9 provinces, which were in turn sub-divided into 25 Regierungsbezirke. Each of these correspond with an Oberpostdirektionsbezirk (OPD.).
Danzig was one of the two Regierungsbezirke of the Province of West Prussia, the other being Marienwerder.
The Danzig OPD included all the territory that was to form the Free State in 1920 and extended considerably beyond the Free State borders, especially toward the west.
It was bordered on the west and southwest by the OPD of Köslin and on the south and east by the OPD of Marienwerder.
The list that follows shows the offices open during the period of use of the stamps of Prussia, the Prussian numeral cancellation (if any) and any opening or closing dates within this period.
