6.1.1 DOMESTIC MAIL — THE USE OF POSTAGE STAMPS
Soon after opening to the public, the Polish Post in Gdańsk began also to accept the use of Polish stamps without the PORT GDAŃSK overprint. The 1931 instruction approved this officially.
Picture postcard sent from Gdańsk to Włocławek. For reasons unknown in Włocławek the address was changed into Bydgoszcz. Very early use of two Polish 5 groszy stamps without overprint, covering the rate for a picture postcard with a message of more than 5 words. POLSKI URZ. P.-T. GDAŃSK No 3 c cds 3.8.25.
From 15 April to 31 August 1926 in Poland an additional one grosz was levied on each sending to support the unemployed. For this on 12 April the Polish post issued a new 1 grosz stamp. The picture postcard was sent on 11 August 1926 from Gdańsk to Konstantynów. The sender, a tourist, appears to have been unaware that the extra 1 grosz was not obligatory in Gdańsk. The full postage, including the one grosz, bas been paid with Polish stamps. POLSKI URZĄD P.-T. GDAŃSK No 1 cds 11.8.26, KONSTANTYNÓW a arrival cds 12.8.26.
